Networked Radio/Audio is a V+ add-on package that empowers users to easily build DIS networked audio applications. When Vcomm is combined with V+, an ordinary PC becomes a network radio that can be visually programmed to perform a variety of tasks, including interfacing to simulator hardware and connection to DIS networks via almost any type of network. This is a significant breakthrough since traditional systems for this market are costly and based on DSP systems running DOS. Now, all you need for a minimal system is a PC and a sound card.
BASIC SYSTEM FEATURES Complete radio simulation is provided in this package, that includes the standard features such as frequency matching, VOX, squelch, AGC, and modulation type. Since this package is based on V+, the user is free to add custom features that may not be part of the system, such a special tones, etc.
"The SimPhonics system can do all this and more with a computer purchased at your local computer store, similar to the one you are using to view this page. It is no longer necessary to buy a custom system and spend a fortune for this technology." Each operator may be assigned any number of independent radios and is limited only by the network speed and configured system performance. SimPhonics has demonstrated up to 300 on a 100BastT fiber connection using a Pentium 100 MMX. FIELD COMPATIBILITY TESTS SimPhonics networked audio system has been tested with a variety of existing DIS Radio systems. The results are listed here. CURRENT PHYSICAL NETWORK SUPPORT The SimPhonics networked audio system can utilize any of the network hardware/software supported by WindowsNT, which is virtually all network types and interface cards. This includes, FDDI/CDDI, 100/10BaseT(TX),2 SimPhonics has selected and used specific high performance network interface cards for specialized networks such as FDDI. For FDDI interface cards, SimPhonics recommends the following cards.
